Wonder why some people do not even achieve an inch of what they dream or speak of becoming? Could it be that they are so busy dreaming or wishing… that they neglect doing what is necessary to achieve their dreams and desires? A lack of goal setting can sabotage the chance for ever achieving dreams. I know… I am a HUGE dreamer… but I have had to learn to set goals and abide by timelines.

Setting goals is a very significant part of the routine of a successful business or personal lifestyle, and it often leads to very positive, life-changing accomplishments. It is this necessary foundation - the building of routines into our days, weeks, months, years and entire lives - which leads us to our promised land.

People who set goals literally create a map of their target achievements in life, marking where they are going… where they should begin, where to pause, where to delve a bit, and where and when to stop. Once this written plan or project map is created, it allows the planner to check and monitor where he or she is in the scheme of things and whether or not he or she is making the achievements in a timely manner, which will take him or her closer to the desired goals.

You need to set goals. You need to write down a plan. It need not be complicated or sophisticated. Just begin to get it down on paper so that you can see the big picture - and the small steps - and finally the timeline. You can start on a napkin or a scratch piece of paper if that is what you have when the inspiration hits. But you must begin sometime and somewhere. Decide to begin today. Start simple. Baby steps are fine.

By setting goals, you will know how you are doing and exactly what you should be doing in order to achieve the proper actions that will bring your dreams to life. You will know if you can relax, or if you need to double your efforts, when you are falling short of what is expected of you, or if you can celebrate even the smallest of success. Just follow a routine, according to your plan. It is okay to tweak the plan… this is often necessary… just make sure that you write it down so that you can stay on target! We are talking life changing stuff here. I love life changing stuff. Progress. More... Better... Faster... and that is how technology, medicine and knowledge is expounding!

WEB 3.0? We're Still Learning Web 2.0!

So what is this mysterious new, yet to be unveiled WEB 3.0?
I have gotten some email about it from some progressive techies
so I thought I had better check it out... Many webmasters are just
getting started with effectively using the WEB 2.0 technology and
now we can see on the horizon looming many fabulous
advances that are intended to make some peoples online lives
easier while providing a rich fulfilling browsing experience. I have
a feeling it will be stimulating for many surfers and users... but I
can imagine that it could complicate the lives of many techies.

Truthfully, I love technology and change and progress so I can't
wait to sink my teeth into it. Many small business owners - both
online and brick-n-mortar may have a little trouble adjusting.
Hopefully there will be good Geeks who can guide and teach
many who are just too busy to keep up with all the
21st Century technologies!

Let me share with you what I have learned... Let's compare

PC Magazine recently had an article stating that "some are
skeptical about whether the Semantic Web (aka WEB 3.0)
will actually take hold."

Well, that's what some thought about MySpace, Facebook,
Squidoo, Blogs...Now we find that without the new WEB 2.0,
you are going nowhere.

Beautiful, skilled, expensive Websites sit stagnant without the
interaction that WEB 2.0 allows and lay dormant consequently

SO WHAT DO MYSPACE AND MTV HAVE IN COMMON?

Rumor has it that MySpace is planning a launch that will be a major challenge to the itune monopoly. They may have inked a deal with THREE of the four major records labels... a partnership to include the downloading of music. The four major record labels left are Warner Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group and EMI. I guess EMI is the only one without the foresight to get in on this one.

Hello... it looks like someone is finally gonna figure out a cool way to monetize the MySpace universe! The last time something as monumental and potentially culture culling as this happened... MTV was born. At the time record labels underestimated the "new" faddish MTV phenomena. MTV made their mark and made their money leaving the major labels in the dust.

The service could include streaming of songs, MP3 sales, concert tickets and cool stuff like ringtones. Can you say ching ching?
The demographics and purchasing power of the whole MySpace world is just waiting…daddy’s dollar in hand…waiting for some genius to give them something that fits their allowance, attention span, and cell phone texting crazed lifestyle and image. MySpace reached 106 million accounts in 2006 with reportedly 230,000 new sign-ups a day. Talk about viral marketing! Let’s go!

OKAY. I’m back. My husband just opened a new bottle of Fanta Strawberry Soda and it exploded all over him and the kitchen. Needless to say I had to help him clean it up. Ugh. Yet another distraction to detour me from the important business at hand.

Starting A New Thing...

So well, here I am... giving in to the cultural peer pressure of the rest of America... I am starting a blog. You know my husband and I were the last people in the States to get a VCR (for those of you who remember what that is) which is ironic considering all the high tech equipment I am involved with now. I do Television, Streaming, Video , Multimedia & Product Development & some Website stuff. In that order.

But seriously, I am usually way out ahead of the game, and although I do love to write alot... it has taken me some while to get down and dirty and get this thing started. I will just use the excuse that I have been too busy. Whatever.

This is what I really look like - but I had to make the cartoon image you see above - which is me too, all made over to look sorta... professional? Anyway, on any given day... this is the real me...

so here is a REAL me...

Anyway, back to business. As I realized that I was starting another "New Thing" and thought about all the commitment and focus it would require, I was reminded of how many times I have encouraged and prompted others to "Just Do It!"

How many times do we have great intentions and not follow through? How many times do we get distracted and lose our focus right at a critical juncture in an important process? I do quite often. I blame it on busyness, or other people...

Today as I began this blog I came to the conclusion that sometimes we may fail... to try... because of fear. Fear that... it will not be good enough... fear that... it will be a waste of time... fear of others' opinion of us. On and on I could go you know, but I won't bore you with my reasoning.

Just remember we can't make it if we don't try. One step at a time. Moving toward our written goals will take start us on a journey that will help us fulfill the destiny for our lives.

That's why I am here. To remind you not to fear but to push. You will give birth to the dream that you conceived some time ago - if you do not stop trying but begin to PUSH forward toward the prize.

You can do it... You will do it! I believe it - so just receive it!
